SonicFox Wins Injustice 2 and Dragonball FighterZ at Winter Brawl 12

by Chris Cuevo on Mar 8

This past weekend saw Echo Fox dominate the fighting game community during Winter Brawl 12 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Philadelphia, PA. SonicFox came out to Philadelphia with brooms and won huge for Echo Fox in Injustice 2 and Dragonball FighterZ, the first major event to feature the game.

Before the Dragonball FighterZ event kicked off, SonicFox, Theo, and Scar represented Echo Fox in Injustice 2. All three Foxes easily made their way to the Top 8. Once there, Theo defeated Coach Steve in a clean sweep using Doctor Fate to advance to the Winners Finals. On the other side of the bracket, Foxes collided as SonicFox and Scar fought for the second spot in the Winners Finals. Using newly released character Michelangelo, SonicFox prevailed.

In the Winners Finals, SonicFox proved to be unstoppable with Michaelangelo. He swept Theo’s Superman and advanced to the Grand Finals.

SonicFox’s victory set up an all Fox Losers Finals between Theo and Scar. All three Foxes would be taking a podium position in the event. Not wanting to settle for the bronze, Theo and Scar fought with everything they had, but Theo swept Scar to find his way back to Grand Finals against SonicFox.

In the Grand Finals, SonicFox again bested his fellow Fox, winning the series 3-1.

After claiming victory in the Injustice 2 Event, SonicFox set his eyes on yet another championship. This time in Dragonball FighterZ.

After a surprising loss to Chris G, SonicFox found himself in the Losers Bracket of the Dragonball FighterZ event. Undeterred, he set his sights on earning a Grand Finals rematch.

With determination in his mind and his team of Goku Black, Hit, and Android #16, SonicFox went on a tear throughout the Losers Bracket. He swept NecroUndine, dominated Fame96, broke out another broom on dekillsage, and eliminated XCaliberBladez in the Losers Finals. His efforts earned him the right to the rematch he sought.

In the Grand Finals, SonicFox looked like a man on a mission and Chris G had no answer for his onslaught. SonicFox swept Chris G in the first match reset the bracket. In the final, winner-take-all match, Chris G struggled to find an answer to SonicFox and got swept again, giving SonicFox his second championship belt of the weekend.

Not content with his victories, SonicFox ended the tournament by responding to Japanese rival Goichi “GO1” Kishida. GO1 recently called out SonicFox after winning a Dragonball FighterZ event in Japan, telling the Fox “You’re next.” SonicFox’s response, “Goichi, omae wa mou shindeiru,” (“Goichi, you are already dead”) sets the stage for the first time these competitors meet head to head. We can only wait in anticipation of what is sure to be one of the best Dragonball FighterZ matches yet.
